Pigment dyeing is a process holding pigment,binder and crosslinking agent onto fabrics and form film on the surface of fabrics. Pigment dyeing has lots of advantages such as shorter process, energy-saving, no production of polluted water and so on. But bad fabric color fastness and handle limited the development of pigment dyeing. At present, binders which possess functional group are used widely. In order to improve the film-forming properties, methyl-etherified hexahydroxy methylmelamine which has six functional groups was used as crosslinking agent and glycol was used as additive.The effects of glycol and HMMM on the properties of Acrylate film were investigated. The effects of different amount of HMMM and glycol on the Tensile Strength and elongation and water absorption were researched,too. The results showed that glycol made the film of HMMM more smooth and uniform. HMMM made the tensile strength of film increase while the elongation and the water absorption decrease. As the increase of the amount of glycol, tensile strength increased at first and then decreased. But water absorption decreased at first and then increased. The elongation increased. Catalyst can reduce film-forming time and enhance the properties of film.Storage stability, centrifugal stability, high and heat-resistant stability, freeze-thaw stability of the pigment dispersion system were investigated. Particle size,viscosities of dispersion system were measured and discussed. The results showed that HMMM, glycol and catalyst didn't affect the stabilities obviously. The dispersion system comprising HMMM,glycol,binder,catalyst,etc. had better storage stability, ventrifugal stability,high and low temperature resistant stability.Dispersion system was applied in pad dyeing process. The results indicated that HMMM used with binder improved the K/S value , wet rubbing fastness, washing fastness. The influence on dry rubbing fastness was not obvious. With the increase of the amount of HMMM, fabric tensile strength enhanced and then decreased . It was the maximum when HMMM was 1.6%. But the handle became worse.Glycol decreased the K/S value. But dry rubbing fastness, washing fastness, fabric tensile strength, elongation increased and then decreased. Wet rubbing fastness was decreased. The handle was improved. Binder lonely or the composition of HMMM and glycol had the same effects on the fastness of fabrics. But the later had better handle feeling. When the composition of HMMM and glycol was applied in Finishing process,it could improve fabric wet rubbing fastness.
