Sinter ore production played an important role in the process of steel making, because proportion of sinter ore would not only influence the production and quality of sinter ore directly, but also affect sinter ore cost .Currently, the iron ore supply of Chongqing Iron&Steel Company (CISC) is not fixed for its aera limits. It mainly depended on the domestic and foreign markets. The souces and composition of sintering material were complicated and variable. Thus, it has a great practical significance for CISC to reasonablly distribute sinter ore, to obtain optimal match of agglomerate, and finally to minimize the cost of sinter ore under the precondition that the composition of mixture and the stock quantity of materials were limited.According to the present production situation and requirement of CISC, 8 optimal schemes for sinter mixture were desighed in this paper, taking Australian fine ores, Indian ore fines, Brazil ore fines, domestic ore fines(from Anhui, Hubei, Guangxi, and Zhanjiang), domestic ore concentrate (from Liaoning, Anhui, Hubei, Guangdong, and Tibet), flux and return fine as sinter material. All the material were analyzed, the result showed that concentrate ores were obviosly superior to ore fines for it's higher grade(T. Fe≥65%) and lower impurity. Brazil ore fine is the best in the concentrate ores, and performance indexe of Hubei ore fines is the highest among the ore fines.The physicochemical property and metallurgy property of the 8 sinter ore were tested by sintering pot test in laboratory. The results showed that physical property, sinter technic index, chemical property and metallurgy property of the 8 sinter ores meet the requirement of sinter ore production, and the properties matched each other very well. Integrated assessments results of the 8 sinter ores indicated that Scheme S-5 for sinter batching is the best, Scheme S-1 second.According to the application practice of Scheme S-5 in No.3 sinter factory of CISC, the following results could be abtained from the semi-year accumulative data: T. Fe was 54.07%; the content of FeO was 7.97%; extracted ore rate was 89.38%; return fine rate was 12.65%;effective availability was1.415;tumbler index was76.1%;composition of particle size less than10mm was 22.98%;vertical sintering rate was 19.5mm/min. The semi-year cuculative datas of Scheme S-1 indicated the following results: T. Fe was 53.99%;the content of FeO was 7.90%;ore production rate was 89.96%;return fine rate was 12.65%;effective availability was 1.317;Tumbler index was 76.5%;compositions of particle size≤10mm was 25.92%;vertical sintering rate was 19.70mm/min.As the application of the optimal scheme for sinter mixture, the T. Fe value increased 0.33%, compositions of particle size less than 10mm decreased 5.13%,return fine rate decreased 0.75% for Scheme S-5. And the T. Fe value increased 0.25%, compositions of particle size less than 10mm decreased 2.19%,return fine rate decreased 0.75% for Scheme S-1. Integrating these test results, the whole test effect of designed schemes for sinter mixture was significant.Considering the metallurgy property and production experiments, Scheme S-5 and S-1 were reconmmended for mixture sinter production for CISC.
