These years, with the expansion of China's universities and the number of students has been greatly increased, the construction of student dormitories is then carried out vigorously. Therefore, there has been an increasing demand for the dormitory fire risk assessment. The thesis came to the conclusion that the fire prevention and control in dormitories needs to be attached great importance to immediately after analyzing in detail the fire situation and status quo of dormitories on the basis of summarizing the harm of fire. Then the author introduced briefly the research history, achievement and status quo of fire safety assessment. The thesis first analyzed the factors affecting the fire safety in dormitories, on the basis of which the author established a relatively perfect assessment element system of fire safety of dormitory in universities according to the characteristics of dormitories, NFPA, relevant code for fire protection, previous researches and experts' suggestions. After that, the author studied the problems that determine the weight of these assessment elements and quantifying. Then, the thesis selected the fuzzy synthetic evaluation to carry out this research after introducing, analyzing and comparing several common means used in fire safety assessment. Finally, the author introduced the mathematical theory and calculation process of multilevel fuzzy synthetic evaluation in detail. The thesis carried out the practical research on the base of theoretical analysis. Through taking a university dormitory in Beijing as an example to conduct a case study and using former assessment element system of fire safety and multilevel fuzzy synthetic assessment, the author assessed the fire safety of this particular dormitory the and got some conclusions. In addition, the author found out the potential fire hazards of this dormitory according to the assessment results and put forward relevant solutions and suggestion for improvement.
