Chalcones are a class of simple structure and active natural organic compounds with strong biological activities, these compounds has been widely used in the field of medicine. But in the application of pesticides is not common. In this paper, two series of a total of 30 new furan chalcones are synthesised by a novel method, they aren't reported in any literature before, all the target compounds have been done by 1H NMR,13C NMR,HR-MS and IR. they are also studied on the grass, cells, insects and bacteria for the biological activities. We syntheised new galactosyl and hydroxyl furan Chalcones with lactose as raw materials. as far as experimental routes are concerned, we choose the most convenient route, and improved the efficiency of the reaction greatly by direct aldol reaction and hydrolysis of galactosyl in alkaline conditions, without the use of protecting groups. We test the biological activities of the target compounds on the a variety of grass, and studied the effects of activity. The results showed that the compounds especially galactosyl compounds are effective to the plant height and root length. for example, in 50μg/ml-1, the average growth rate of galactosyl compound 5 is 292%, while hydroxyl compounds is only 81% on Sorghum bicolor, the average growth rate of compound 4 is 239%, the other is 12% on Echinochloa crusgalli(L.) Beauv, thus it describes the Galactose in furan chalcones should have unique physiological and biochemical activities. This aspects of the role is first reported in the same kind.As for test on the human hepatoma cell line HepG2, datas of the rates of inhibition have showed the target compounds have significant inhibitions to the replications of the cell, the range of average inhibition rate is 7% -54%, galactose shows no impact on anti-tumor activity. Rresults of insect and disease prevention tests on armyworm, aphid, larvae, carmine spider mite and botrytis cinerea, rice sheath blight, wheat scab and other seven kinds of important agricultural diseases show that the target compounds have no obvious preventing and controlling effects.
