The Research On Safety Design Of Food Packaging

According to the famous Maslow Demand Theory, people would require high-level needs once the basic human needs is satisfied, and since at present most of the people in domestic are no longer short of food, great deal of attention would be paid to the food safety element. As the outer layer, the safety of food packaging can be of direct affect to the food within, but its importance are usually overlooked.The paper first analyzed the undesirable consequences brought about by unsafe food packaging to food, hunman health and natural environment. It employs the induction and comprehensive analysis method to analyze the various unsafe elements in food packaging from three aspects of human, natural environment and management standard, and for hunman element it discusses it detail from three points of manufacturer, designer and consumer and then provides corresponding suggestions.The designers should take the safety elements into full consideration when designing food packages. From the rational aspects, this paper introduces the Intrinsic Safety Design Theory, Indirect Safety Design Theory and Indicative Design Theory, and gives examples for applying these theories in actual food packaging design. Then in consideration of vulnerable groups, it discusses the Barrier-Free Designing and Generalization Designing principles, and in consideration of environment protection, it discusses the sustainable designing principles, i.e. designing elements, recycling elements, and service elements.The feeling of safety is a psychological emotion in human nature. This paper analyzes the causes of this emotion, and discusses the ways of expressing it from the three aspects of sight, taste and touch. Then it studies in detail the sight elements from the aspects of packaging material, color, gragh, shape and so on.This paper discusses packaging safety from artistic designing prospects, and brought forth two designing theories, i.e. rational and emotional designing theories, it enriched the current packaging designing theories, and points out that packaging designers should put safety aspects into first place, and take into consumer's safety requeirement into consideration, so that food packaging can provide emotional safety feelings to consumers while also fullfilling the basic functions of safety, the designing principles brought forth by this paper can also be of value to food packaging practices.
