Sand production can cause great damage to the oil and water wells. Sand burying in formation and sand plug in well bore make the oil well shut down. The abrasion of ground and underground equipment is caused by sand production. Maintenance work increases greatly, such as blasting pump overhaul, ground tank cleaning and so on. And then the oil production cost increases and the oilfield management becomes more difficult. Sand control technique is the basic oil production technology. Improving the success rate and efficiency of sand control measures is the important measure to guarantee stable production in this kind of reservoir and reduce production cost.According to the actual situation of the Panhe oilfield, the influencing factors and mechanism of sand production in both domestic and foreign are surveyed. In the light of sand control experience in other oilfields, this paper studies the reservoir damage mechanism and protection technology in Panhe oilfield. Based on series of experiments, including sand control pilot test by fracturing in part of wells, wire wrapped screen gravel packing test, the combination of different screen gravel test for researching the sand control effect, the adaptability of different sand control techniques is analyzed. The results are as follows. 1. As the water-cut increases, the compressive strength and young's modulus, shear modulus, volume modulus of core is significantly reduced and the core can be damaged easily, which causes sand production. 2. The different production situation affects sand production greatly. Formation pressure drop, formation pressure fluctuations, and flow increase, can cause sand production. Initial sand control is very necessary for weakly cemented upfront reservoir. 3. Because the formation is not in debt in a new reservoir, UP-1 resin is used in initial sand control. While the formation is deficit, the sand filling process by coating is an effective way. 4. Under the condition of controlling liquid production per unit thickness, chemical sand control can satisfy the basic needs of conventional control casing in sand production reservoir of Pan 2 block. This study determined the mining strength that chemical sand control can stand. The tests as mechanical sand control of filling with high pressure and sand control of hydraulic fracturing are effective attempts under the situation of high intensity liquid production and prompt the sand control technology to meet the needs of field practice.
