Water Quality Analysis Model Of Bohai Bay Based On GIS

Bohai Bay is a typical semi-enclosed sea bay with shallow water, mud silting and poor water exchange. With the rapid development of economy along the coast, Bohai Bay has received large amount of waste water from industrial, agricultural and domestic usage. In order to support the protection and restoration of marine ecosystem environment and ensure the coordination development of ecology and economy, it is necessary to establish a system to analysis the water quality in the Bohai Bay.In this paper, the methods about the further development of GIS and the integration of ecological model and GIS were studied. Firstly, a research platform to study the ecoenvironment in Bohai Bay was developed. In this research, C#.NET was used as the development platform, the COMGIS of ArcGIS Engine was used as development tools. Then, the water quality database of the Bohai Bay was built, based on the combination of ArcSDE and SOL Server 2005. Finally, the water quality analysis module was developed using MATLAB and integrated to GIS, which is based on the multivariate statistical analysis. The integrated research platform can be applied to analysis the pollution of the Bohai Bay, and it is easy to be maintained and extended, because a variety of commonly functions of GIS were achieved in the platform.In this paper, the ecosystem platform of Bohai Bay was applied to analysis the pollution of the sea water in the Bohai Bay. Through case studies the performance of the platform was verified, and some results about the pollution of the Bohai Bay were obtained. The results show that the COMGIS-based ecosystem research platform can play an important role in the study of the coastal ecoenvironment.
