Glazing oil is a decorative and protective coating used in modern printing and packaging paper products. The paper coated by it can solve the problem of the recycling of paper plastic composite film very well and its appearance can be comparable with plastic film paper. Among them, waterborne glazing oil which is composed of all kinds of additives, synthetic resin monomer, water, is prepared by emulsion copolymerization. It has the characteristics of innocuity, non-pollution, mild stimulant, low VOC(volatile organic substances at room temperature), low cost, broad source and it has gradually become the focus of glazing oil research. It is expected to be widely used in books, food and medicine packaging etc..First, this paper discusses the effects of monomer ratio on the properties of Waterborne Glazing oil. The preparation of glazing oil emulsion is copolymerization. The soft and hard monomers are methyl methacrylate(MMA) and butyl acrylate(BA), and the film-forming property, water absorption rate, glass-transition temperature, solid content and the brightness, smoothness, water resistance, anti-friction performance of the coated paper are tested in this experiment. It analyses the effect of monomer composition on the performance of Waterborne Glazing oil and we can get the best ratio of soft and hard monomers when Waterborne Glazing oil has a perfect comprehensive performance. Then, the experiment regards the acrylate Waterborne Glazing oil as the research object and explores the influencing laws of Waterborne Glazing oil glass transition temperature, the brightness, smoothness, resistance to friction and other properties of the coated paper by changing the organosilicon content. At last, the safety control of monomer residue is carried out from two aspects: the amount of ammonium sulfate initiator and the holding time by headspace gas chromatography. To explore the influence of them on the content of remnant monomer and get the ammonium sulfate initiator addition amount and the holding time when the monomer residue is the least(even 0).Studies have shown that the proportion of soft and hard monomers of preparing glazing oil has significant effect on film forming characteristics, glass transition temperature, coating paper brightness, smoothness, water absorption, water resistance and friction resistance and get the best monomer ratio when the comprehensive performance of acrylate Waterborne Glazing oil is the best. The content of organic silicon has effect on the brightness, smoothness and frictional resistance of Waterborne Glazing oil and get its best content when the acrylate Waterborne Glazing oil has a good comprehensive performance. The addition of ammonium persulfate and the holing time have large influence on the residue of the monomers. They are of greatsignificance to the late research and development of Waterborne Glazing oil when its comprehensive performance is more excellent, more green and environmental protection.
