Sorona elastic fibers have good elasticity, crimpness and softness,its blended yarn with a comfortable elasticity, softness and bulkiness, which can improve fabric comfortableness. Shutansi/ cotton blended yarn was selected, combined with the characteristics, applied to develop woven products, and to systematically study the thermal-wet comfort of Shutansi/ cotton blended fabric.This paper choose 2.0 dtex 38 mm Sorona elastic fiber which be developed in Haixing Material Technology Co., LTD. We can observe the fiber structure by electron microscope and through infrared spectrum analysis fiber groups. And test the strength, hygroscopicity and moisture releasability of fiber. 16 s STS40/C60, 16 s STS60/JC40, 21 s STS40/C60, 21 s STS60/C40, 32 s STS40/C60 five different types of Shutansi/cotton blended yarn and 12 s cotton yarn was selected to test the strength and regain. According to the results, to study the influence of the yarn thickness, fiber proportion for the yarn properties. For studying the thermal-wet comfort of Shutansi/ cotton blended fabrics, this paper designed and developed four different series blended fabric, and based on the mechanism of heat transfer research the thermal-wet comfort of fabrics. The last, using the fuzzy mathematics comprehensive evaluation method evaluate all of the fabric. The following conclusions:(1) Sorona elastic fiber longitudinal surface appearance is smooth, uniform thickness, overall spiraling with curly and containing hydrophilic group; the moisture absorption and moisture release of Sorona elastic fiber are exponential type trend, regain is 0.61%, slightly higher than ordinary polyester fiber’s(0.4%). The breaking strength of the Sorona elastic fiber is similar to the cotton fiber but slightly lower than ordinary polyester fiber, cotton fiber elongation at break than 2.7 ~ 4 times higher, but lower than ordinary polyester fiber. The initial modulus of Sorona elastic fiber is small, so fibers are soft.(2) Moisture regain of Shutansi/cotton blended yarn is lower than the pure cotton yarn, but it’s wet absorption rate higher than that of pure cotton yarn; The lower Sorona elastic fibers content, the better moisture absorption; In low humidity environment, blended ratio of the same yarn,the more fine yarn, the better moisture absorption.(3) in the case of other fabric structure parameters to the same or close, the thermal and wet resistance of plain weave fabric is smaller,but moisture regain is relatively large; and the thermal and wet resistance of satin fabric is larger,but moisture regain is largest,good permeability,warmth retention property and good hygroscopicity. The mixed fabric that other fabric structure parameters is close and the warp with the cotton yarn, the weft with Shutansi/cotton blended yarn, the thermal resistance, wet resistance, breathability and moisture regain was significantly less than for the weft yarn cotton fabric; cotton yarn can improve thermal and moisture comfort. Shutansi/ cotton blended fabric, the thermal and wet resistance of Sorona elastic fiber content of 60% is greater than the fiber content of 40%’s. the former regain, ventilation rates were lower than the latter. The fabric material is same but weft density is different,the wet resistance decrease after first increases with the increase of weft density, and the ventilation rate decreases gradually with the increase of weft density(4) The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is used to Shutansi/ cotton blend fabric and draw the conclusion,for summer leisure fabric, plain fabric, twill fabric, pure cotton fabric and the smaller weft density fabric’s thermal and moisture comfort properties is better. The large weft density and Shutansi/cotton 60/40 blend fabric’s thermal moisture comfort properties is worse. For winter leisure fabric, the larger weft density fabric, twill and satin fabric’s thermal and moisture comfort properties is better. Shutansi/cotton blended yarn and pure cotton yarn woven fabric thermal and moisture comfort properties is poorer.
