The southwestern area of Hubei province implicates rich and colorful cultures of nation and region, in which the Enshi city is the convergence of society, history and culture as one of the nine historical and cultural cities of Hubei Province. The cultures of Tujia, Han, Buddhist and Taoism converge in the Enshi city,which can be regarded as the material living environment and the spiritual and cultural carrier for the local settlements. The history of the construction of town landscape in Enshi is also the history of the balancing of the man-land relationship and the amalgamation of the national and regional culture and the local unique natural resources. In the process of the construction of the town landscape, the concepts left behind by the ancients can provide guidance and reference for the present construction. For this reason, it is of significance to make exploration of changes and the analysis of patterns and regularities in the emergence and process of the town landscape.Since the Qing Dynasty, the town landscape of Enshi has gone through rise and fall and undergone tremendous changes. However, with the rapid development of urbanization, the town landscape of Enshi is gradually facing the serious forfeiture of the regional characteristics and the ethnical features. For all of these reasons, basing on the conclusion of models and characteristics of the town landscape in Enshi from the Qing Dynasty, this paper aims at the targeted strategy of the development of the town landscape in Enshi.Generally speaking, taking the Enshi city as the major research object, this paper focus on the analysis on changes of the town landscape in Enshi from the Qing Dynasty to nowadays with field researching, surveying, mapping and making reference to relevant historical documents. In the course of specific researching, firstly, the landscape of Enshi are divided into three levels:the macro-level is the natural environment pattern, the median level is the town tissue and the micro-Level is the landmark; Secondly, the introduction of methods for the conclusion of the town landscape is based on the theory of "Pattern Language" proposed by Christopher Alexander. The paper will analyze the ancient landscape in Qing Dynasty and the present landscape from the above three levels, so as to conclude the landscape models from the macro-level, the median level and the macro-level. On this basis, the paper will summarize and conclude the landscape features of Enshi, and put forwards the measurement and strategy advice to the landscape construction according to the present condition in Enshi to solve problems of the loss of landscape features.
