As we all know, the city street lighting is an important foundation for building a city, but also an essential sign of the city. It reflects the spirit of a modem city, represents the image of a city, plays an important role in urban security, urban landscaping, traffic in the night and urban civilization and provides essential guarantee for the urban people's lives and economic activities. Currently, most of the city's street lighting system still follow the traditional model, which can not adapt to the needs of rapid development of the current city street lighting, and also results in the great waste of national resource.On the basis of analysis and the study of the software development technology, control technology, GIS technology and dynamic information management technology, this article takes Wuhan urban street lighting as the research object to carry out the research. The main research contents include four parts system analysis and design, analysis and design of electronic map, secondary development of geographic information system for lights and management control subsystem design. The research of analysis and design of dynamic information management system is from three aspects to explain which is the system requirement analysis, communication subsystem demand analysis and software development platform. On the foundation of learning a ArcGIS secondary development technology, and based on the component ArcGIS as a development platform, Visual C++ 6.0 as a development tool, the Access 2003 as database servers, this article designs and realizes the street lamp geographic information system which completes the function of street lamp information query, fault alarming and confirming, data analysis and processing, visual management and controlling (add or delete the lights dynamically)etc on the electronic map. Management controlling subsystem includes six function modules:system settings, user management, manual controlling, timing controlling, street lamp monitoring and adaptive controlling, which realize the street lamp information dynamic management and intelligent control function. Based on the map for lights, the biggest advantage of this system is realizing dynamic information management system with geographic information system; combined with wireless communication technology and VC++ 6.0 Series Communication programming, designing remote management control of the city lights is another characteristic of this system. This article is divided into five parts, firstly, it introduces the present situation of urban street lighting system at home and abroad, problems, the purpose of the research and significance; next analyses in detail the needs of the current city street lighting systems; then focuses on the design of electronic map of lights, secondary development of geographic information system for lights and management controlling subsystem; finally, this article summarizes and prospects.
