Road traffic information management platform is an application of GIS in trafficmanagement,and it is an important part of the Intelligent Transportation System. With thedevelopment of the road, how to manage massive road spatial information and attributeinformation, how to dynamically update data, how to dynamically program and show thepath, is a problem of geographic information that needs to be considered when design anddevelopment of traffic management platform. ArcGIS as a mainstream GIS software, datamodeling, the updated data management and data processing framework which has acomplete solution, arcgis manage data have precise, fast, extensive and comprehensive, andother advantages. In ArcGIS-based, Design and development of road traffic informationmanagement platform has some practical significance.the work in this thesis includesdynamically updated road data, dynamic programming paths and display problems.The work that the study presents are as follow:1. It has set up a geographic database using the fundamental data information of thecity’s roads, and revamped the data according to the demands of the platform,while establishing the geographic network of the roads, quality domain and son on.It has also designed and realized the updates of the database using the specificGeodatabase spatial database of the ArcGIS to store the spatial information.2. It chose the Dijkastra Algorithm to solve the platform’s shortest path problem afterrealizing the three frequently used path planning algorithms and doing thecomparison of their efficiency between them. It added the information of theresistance value in the network analysis by creating the network analysis data usingthe fundamental data of the road traffic. At the same time, it also realized thedynamic show of the path through the related library interfaces and the pathanalysis layer provided by the arcEngine.3. It implied the platform of the geographic information system for road transportation using the ArcGIS9.3as the tool platform, the ArcEngine componentdeveloping technique, Microsoft visual studio2008as the environment, C#as thedevelopment language. The platform can not only satisfy the demands of the GISsystem’s fundamental operating functions, but also provide kinds of inquiry modesfor the data information. It can also offer the path planning solutions according tothe network layers it creates, which can facilitate the management of relevantdepartments.4. At last, the paper evaluates the system generally, and summarizes the work that hasbeen done. it also points out the problems of the implement and the deficiency ofthe functions, and clarifies the research goals of the next step.
