As an important part of the electric automation, the power distribution automation system becomes more and more important in the factory and plant. The main functions of the power distribution automation system are to provide the real-time data, history data, human and machine interface. The operator can finish all operations from HMI. There are a few differences between the plant application and the power supply bureau application. Due to there are not many professional engineers in the plant, or they have little experience so that their operation is limited. The system doesn't work well, In other words, the efficiency of the system is not high. But if we can provide some functions like simulation, it will become more easily for operators to do the exercises, and operator can get more experience from the trainer or exercises. So the system will become more popular in the future because professional operators can be available easily in the future.By analyzing actual applications of the system and function requirements of the customer, the paper puts forward to the design objective, design ideas, design architecture, and functional modes. Based on the analysis of the system, the functional modules are compartmentalized. The key technology such as the OOA technology and UML in the papers is introduced. The paper will focus on the model of the simulation in the subsystem, and give a way to realize it. Some tests will be made to indicate that the simulation function is a good component of the system. As well something still needs to be consummated and improved in the future.
