With the development of the social economy and the improvement of the living level, people are more dependent on the electric power. And the requirements of the service stability and energy quality are advancing. This requires the power system continue to adopt new technology, enhance economic efficiency and operation stability. Especially the distribution side, losses of large power distribution system, low degree of automation, and fault recovery is slow. Development of distribution automation system (DAS), for improving distribution management system to improve distribution management level of significance. The DAS is the most important function of distribution network fault detection, isolation and restoration (FDIR). In this paper, I do research on the power distribution system fault detection and isolation techniques, and their terminal distribution automation equipment in the realization of key research, and explore automatic fault handling modes which adapt to the situation of China's distribution network. This paper focuses on the multi-agent technology in the distribution network. Multi-agent technology is the main research of distributed artificial intelligence, a group of self-study and a number of intelligent behavior coordination between the Agent, the traditional artificial intelligence methods for solution and a single Agent can not be solved complex problems. This paper presents a multi-agent systems based on distribution network fault detection, isolation and restoration, the establishment of a remote terminal unit agent, the main transformer agents, feeder circuit breakers and feeder terminal unit agent agent multi-agent control system, on the each step in the FDIR agent behavior is discussed. With the increasing competition of global energy, in the future-we need pay more attention to the energy emergence and DG will have a significant impact on operation, paper focuses on fault process after adopting multi-agent technology. With the simulation in JADE platform, the results demonstrate the multi-agent intelligent control mode is more reliable and efficient than the main station feeder automation system.
