Based on the fact of Middle Asia route, size of ship distribution and space distribution were studied. That is a route-optimizing problem. The decision on the assets allocation of the route determines the liner companies' revenue, cost and efficiency. Reasonable assignment of assets in a route plays a vital role in efficient operation. But to a mature route, as the changing of the world economic situation, market conditions, business strategies, competition and other factors, the most effective assignment of assets is also changed. As a result, liner company must make timely adjustment and optimization of the route. In recent years, route of Middle East becomes more and more concerned. Many liner companies adjusted the asset allocation and increased the asset investment so as to gain maximum profits. Take A company for example whose main business is on Middle East route, how to adjust their assets and how to compete in a favorable position is the first important issue it has to solve. This study based on the operation of A company on Middle East route, made a research on the most optimal assignment of ship size and Slot Allocation. This is a route optimization problem and can be divided into several sub-problems: ports to be called, the order of calling sequence for the chosen ports, ship size and slot allocation. Because of the ports and the calling sequence are always fixed to the liner companies, the key problem of this study is the chosen of ship size and slot allocation. Under some analysis, this is a problem of Non-linear integer programming. Lingo software was used to find the correct result. Finally, numerical test gave the most optimal ship size and slot allocation at each port on Middle East route of A company. Via this, A company can obtain the best economic benefits, and reach the highest efficiency. This will make the company in a.more competitive position in the fierce market in the future.
