The Research On Landscape Image Of Fenghuang Ancient City

The urban cities' rapid development and the frequently-taking-on elements of cities'images reduce the cities'acknowledgeable identities and images'relativity. Compared with the images'incessant changes through ancient, neo-modern and contemporary times, and from the point of the urban cities' aesthetics, it is found that the elements constructing the Fenghuang Ancient Town have been undergoing the processes:appearing, disappearing or being substituted, accompanied by the changes the public impression. The Fenghuang Ancient Town is our national well-known town in history and culture. It is the representation of Xiangxi local architecture and culture. Its abundant historical culture accumulation makes its image unique and supplies the grand resources for research. Through the research on the ancient town's image, to build up one integrated, flexible system of urban city's image and organic way to the system's renovation will be useful to ancient towns'protection and landscape planning. It also can be reference to the same type national ancient towns'sustainable development.Fenghuang Ancient Town is characterized with the integration of its outstanding natural landscape and its leading man-made landscape. In the paper's second part, firstly, the landscape of the Town is to be disintegrated into 3 layers; secondly, comparing with 5 other representative ancient towns in China, it is going to generalize the four elements of the ancient town's image connotation.In the third part, it is to analyze the forming and changing of the Town's natural environments and local social culture in different times, exemplify the influences from the above factors, show the Town's images from one martial town on border to one important commercial town settled by the citizens of a few nationalities and describe the changing process of the rich landscape resources. It's finally concluded that the forming of ancient towns'images is closely related to social civilization, aesthetics, and different understandings at different times. The town's image is age-charactered and social-economy-charactered.The living and the changes of the urban cities'images have great relations with the society and reflect the urban social life. In the fourth part, it explores the current state and the influence of the society development. It's considered that the ancient town's image is age-charactered, correspondent to social economy development and the survival and revival of the image can be achieved by organic renovation. From the great significances of the ancient towns'sustainable development to the landscape's variety and its protection, this paper also discusses the theory of organic renovation of the ancient towns'landscape and the relative execution settlements.
