With the rapid development of computer technology, network technology, the Power system is comprehensively promote informationization. All sorts of automation system widely applied to electric power industry. The automated system greatly contributed to the development of power production, but in different sectors, different regions form the "information islands." The geographic graphic information of power system as one of important information of power system, with widely distributed, multi-semantics description of a variety of formats, huge in size and other characteristics, brought great inconvenience caused a huge waste of resources and hinder the full utilization of information to the power system of information sharing and interoperability. Therefore, how to achieve power system graphic information sharing and interoperability becomes an important research topic.Geography Markup Language GML (Geography Markup Language) is a geospatial coding language for the description of geographic information based on extensible markup language XML proposed by international organization, provides a standard coding standard for description, exchange and transmission of geographic information.GML can describe the different types of complex data, realized the separation of data content and expressive phase, support with unified data model to describe the data from different data sources.This paper proposed using GML as geographical information of power system transmission and express way, consult the CIM model from different data sources of power graphic information are unified description, Referring to IEC61968 standard in power system unified of geographic information express norms, achieve conversion between GML document and other XML-based file format documents. Analyzed the issues faced by graphics sharing and interoperability in power systems. Analyzed and improve the algorithm of quick location of graphical information and query. Analyzed the characteristics of interface to analyze XML document, and realize the compression and transmission of large volume of GML documents, and design and realize the program using the power graphic information data of a power bureau. In the end the paper summarizes the study results, and prospects the next research direction.
