Mechatronic products related to machinery, electronics, control, computer technology and other fields, single field designing, distributed modeling and simulation can not meet the requirements of the product designing. Virtual prototype is the integration of multidisciplinary digital model, which represents the essential characteristics of the product. Virtual prototyping technology is an advanced digital design method which is under the guidance of concurrent engineering idea, based on the CAX/DFX technology, and centering on co-simulation.So, based on the study of multi-domain simulation of virtual prototyping design, we can introduce virtual prototyping technology into mechatronic designing, and get the technology of mechatronics design based on virtual prototyping, to meet the needs of multi-domain interaction designing of the mechatronic products.In this paper, we conducted in-depth study of the technology of mechatronics design based on virtual prototyping, and studied the ways to create the SolidWorks-LabVIEW integrated design environment and the Mechatronic virtual prototype.On this basis, we studied the basic methods of the simulation and design of the Mechatronic virtual prototyping, completed the single field simulation design of machinery, electronics, control and other fields, and also the multi-domain integrated simulation design from machinery to electronics, control and other areas. Finally, based on the design of virtual prototyping, we presented a fast way to deploy the virtual prototyping design to the NI CompactRIO platform.Simulation design results show that the technology of mechatronics design based on virtual prototyping can work very well with the co-simulation from machinery to electronics, control and other areas, and effectively improve the efficiency of product development, also can break through the bottleneck of traditional design.
