Method And Application Of Highway Network Planning In Medium Or Small Cities

To the small and medium city, road network which almost undertakes all the traffic plays the significantly important role in the construction and development. And it has been performing as the key to the linkage of the small and medium cities to the outside and the main carrier of their internal transportations, which determines its dominate status in the transportation system. However, as the consequence of the development of the economy, the rearrangement of the industrial layout and the continuously increasing demand of transportation, it is urgent that an appropriate road network design is developed for the healthy development of small and medium cities. Therefore, in this paper, to provide the foundation to the scientific decision-making process under new circumstance, deep research is carried out on the methodology and application of the small and medium cities'road network design.Based on the philosophy of system and operability as well as the theories of transportation planning and relevant fields, useful studies are developed on identifying the concepts of small and medium city road network design, analyzing the features and environment of the road network combined with the characteristics of small and medium cities and critically evaluating the interaction between road network and the external environment. Then the feature analysis is introduced about the demand forecast of small and medium city road network with the consideration of its characteristics and afterwards, appropriate forecasting methods and network scale for small and medium cities are proposed. Following the feature analysis discussed above, adaptability analysis is developed about the application of common methods of road network design in small and medium cities, based on which, the layout method combing node important degree with area location under integrated transport corridor is formulated. Finally, the case of Nanchuan District, Chongqing City is chosen as an example to apply the theories and methodologies which are studies in this paper, which provides noticeable academic and practical experience to the development of small and medium city road network design in this country.
