Bus body design plays a vitally important rule during the whole design. Along with the development of the technology and the improvement of our lives, the demand for kinds and types tends to various and complicate. In the traditional serious design, most of the times were spent on the test and amendment of the prototype, which resulted in the lower efficiency. That kind of method difficultly meets the target of the design. How to avoid complicate manual operation and reduce product development cycle becomes a burning problem.NX is a popular software which specializes in many applications, such as design, analysis, simulation and manufacture. It possesses application program interface and development tools for the secondary development. However, it was barely reported as a tool in the field of bus body optimization design. This issue is based on the platform of NX, in order to enhance the automation and intellectualization of the bus body optimization design.This paper was based on the platform of NX. With the help of the knowledge fusion and parameterize, the concept of "analysis driven optimization" was raised. The following are the researches in this paper. In order to reflect the relativity between the beams, relative parameter was raised. The setting method of relative parameter was mentioned. The parameter uniqueness and method of dealing with cycling multiple beams were also included in this paper. The parameterized bus body frame model was established by the secondary development tools, which guaranteed the refreshment of beams when there were changes in case. The constraint relationships of symmetry beams and distributed beams were fixed through knowledge fusion technology. On analyzing the NX advanced simulation, a framework of automatic optimizing was developed. The space between the welding line was optimized by NX NASTRAN, through which an ideal space was obtained.The secondary development based on NX is very important in the field of bus body design. It can reduce the manual operation in the traditional design. It is helpful for engineer to pay more attention to the design. With this method, we improved the bus design and the efficiency was also enhanced.
