As environment deteriorating, green house effect getting severely, the calls for energy saving and emission reduction are higher, development of green environmental automobile is the urgent priority of auto industry at present.Currently consumer environment of electric power car is not mature, public traffic is considered to be the main force to lead the development of electric power car in European countries, research of electric city bus is emerging.China is not willing to be left behind as well, some research institutes and companies are working on the research of electric city bus continuously, however, there are certain gaps in styling, structure and function compared with international levels. In China, the model of car and limousine are the most advanced and fashionable, but design of city bus has never changed for more than ten years. They are ugly, uncomfortable and can't blend well with the city. Research of Chinese city bus focused on structural performance but neglected the importance of modeling design.Based on the background above, this paper researched on the modeling design of electric city bus. City bus modeling design is not as simple as single artistic model, also is not the single engineering design, they mixed together. So this paper combines design function and performance to research on electric city bus modeling design.Firstly this paper shows you a general idea of bus, describes the specific classification and the differences of them, and then investigates the current developing status of city bus and electric city bus.Secondly this paper do research on the development law of city bus styling based on entire vehicle styling, detail styling and interior styling design, and then sums up the design tendency of city bus styling in the future.Then this paper investigates electric city bus structure principle. And makes a reasoned analysis of the functional problems of city bus modeling, such as car door, two steps and three steps, A pillar blind area, interior layout design, handle design, and provides some ideas of humanized design, Then research the structural designs which influence the modeling of electric city bus. Focus on the structure changes such as electric city bus motive force system, drive system to do the research on the impact on the model design caused by those changes. Specified from motive force system, By-wire technology, in-wheel-motor.Analysed the design practice, asymmetric styling design can fix the A-pillar Blind area problem and also conform to aesthetic rule. Middle piece reinforced, back and front door opened which middle unopened design has good structure and function. Six wheel drive used in-wheel motor and low floor technique can provide convenience to passengers and extend the interior space. Use rumble seat and function division to satify the interior of human designFinally, according to all the research above, this paper describes an design thinking which more humanized and optimal in structure and better in detail design functionality.
