Research On Planning Method Of Slow Mode Transportation System In Middle City

Our country is in the period that the social economic modernization,urbanization,mechanization are fast developing, the significance of walking and riding as transportation means has been greatly weakened. traffic jam question,pollution problem,energy question is not only in big city, medium-sized cities are also facing the same confusion. Pedestrian and cyclist are facing a worsening environment for traveling, and the safety and convenience can not be guaranteed. Automobiles seem to control the city and the public spaces in city have been crowded with cars. Public spaces would have little attraction to people and lose their positive urban particularity and development impetus finally because they have short of diversification of people and activities. In order to carry out the scientific development view and sustainable development view better,planning a Slow Mode Transportation system with high quality has become a necessary means. Developing motor traffic in a moderate way and promoting all kinds of traffic means cooperatively is an efficient way to lease varity of city problems. The construction of Slow Mode Transportation System is an important part to create Eco Livable City. The Slow Mode traveling can't be ignored which provide convenience for walking and bike traveling, while the motorized traveling is developing.This paper firstly analyses the walking and bicycle traffic situation and the problems in middle city on the base of summarizing domestic and foreign theories. Secondly, researches pedestrians and bicycle transport characteristics to identify the main factors affecting the walking and bicycle traffic. Finally, combined with the present stage of development of medium-sized cities strategic objectives, both from the planning and design guidance on how to build medium-sized cities in the slow transport system, and summarizes some of the more slowly for medium-sized city facilities design.
