Antilock Braking System (ABS) is an important component for vehicle safety driving system and has significant impact on people's life directly. Along with the ABS used widely in the automobile, more and more people are engaged in studying it. But most researchers only pay attention to the development of the control strategy and ABS application, seldom to the research on the performance of actuators. As the key component of ABS system, the high speed solenoid valve influences the performance of ABS remarkably. So it is essential to focus the research on the structure parameter and dynamic response characteristic of the solenoid valve during the design of ECU and ABS development process.First of all, based on the research of high speed solenoid valve in China and abroad, this paper researches deeply on the working principles and basic configurations of the pneumatic ABS solenoid valve. In the next, the mathematic model of the valve is built up and the simulation is realized in Matlab/Simulink software. At last, the dynamic parameter simulation results of the displacement of valve core and braking chamber pressure is carried out in the model and the valve model is validated by experimental data.In addition, this paper applies the HILS to develop a single wheel ABS HILS test bench, and embed the actual hardware of the pneumatic ABS to the test bench. Through building the single wheel test bench, it can be known whether the dSPACE real time system, the pressure sensor, the solenoid valve drive circuit and the software satisfy the requirements, which provided the sufficient experiment platform for the research of control strategy, performance test of the solenoid valve and study on the dynamic characteristics of braking pressure in pneumatic ABS.Meanwhile, this paper applies the test bench for pneumatic ABS solenoid valve to test the static and dynamic characteristics of the high speed solenoid valve, and identifies the optimal frequency and effective duty cycle operating region of the control signal. The research is done on the system response under different frequency and duty cycle control, and summarizes the effects of the changing control signal on the solenoid valve's dynamic response. At last, the paper researches the delay characteristics during the process of the work condition switching, which provide the theory gist for researching the control strategy and choosing the system regulating frequency. Finally, based on the theoretical and experimental research on the pneumatic ABS high speed solenoid valve, the paper summarizes the delay characteristics and factors effecting the dynamic performance of the solenoid valve. Principles for designing the solenoid valve and measures for improving the valve dynamic response is present in the ending of the paper, which provide the theory gist for designing and improving the pneumatic ABS solenoid valve.
