Currently new construction area has exceeded the total built construction area of all the developed countries, and accounts for nearly50%of the world’s sum. The annual energy consumption of buildings has reached over27%of China’s total energy consumption. The energy consumption of university buildings has gone beyond the average level among all the various types of China’s buildings. Minister of Education promotes to develop the green university building, which has aroused great concerns. The comprehensive green architecture rating systems, such as BREEAM and LEED, have been widely discussed throughout the world. Meanwhile, the researches on the green university buildings have been keeping developing recently. The E.S.E’s university building aims to be the first energy efficient building which is evaluated as "Three Star" in Fudan University. In Chapter2of this article, the green university building has been discussed in both the objectives and energy efficient design strategies point of view. The green university building aims to provide an excellent environment for educating students and researching academics, whilst minimizing energy demands, unning cost during the construction’s overall life cycle. The core energy efficient strategies of green university building including thermal solution of building fabric, energy efficient HVAC system, lighting design with intelligent control systems, BAS systems, etc, have been discussed in details. In Chapter3, the core energy efficient strategies of UEA’s latest energy efficient university building, Thomas Paine Study Center, Phase Ⅱ, have been discussed as an outstanding example. The green university building series of UEA are introduced first. The researches on TPSC Ⅱ are mainly based on the CCHP system&Biomass-fuelled gasifier, Swedish TermoDeck systems, controlled daylighting with artifitual lighting design systems, building management and tuning systems. Then, the energy efficient stratigies’outline of TPSC Ⅱ has been well discussed and concluded. On the basis of the previous two chapters, in Chapter4, the author first discusses the the diffierences between the TPSC Ⅱ and E.S.E’s university building in the geography, climate, sunshine, room function and building appearance point of view. Then, the author discusses the reference meanings of TPSC Phase II, to help develop the energy efficient stratigies’outline of the E.S.E’s university building. In Chapter5, the author focused on the energy efficient strategies of the university building of Environment Science and Engineering Department of Fudan Universy. The project summary including basic information and functional layout has been considered first. Then, the environmental parameters and the energy efficient target of E.S.E.’s university building are discussed. Next, the energy efficient strategies of developing E.S.E’s green university building including the building’s thermal solution, efficient air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems, high efficient lighting design systems, BAS systems, solar energy systems, have been carefully designed according to previous chapters of this article. Fially, the comparison of energy efficiency between TPSC Ⅱ&E.S.E’s university building has been made again, to discuss the current energy efficient status of E.S.E’s building and the further step to improve its energy efficiency.
