There existing many problems in using SRIM foaming process to product automotive interior parts, the key to resolve these problems is mold design. Relying on an automotive interior manufacturing enterprises, the issues about automotive.interior parts mold design was discussed and researched in this paper, specifically as follows:(1) The main problems of enterprise encountered in the product process was summarized, the causes of these problems analyzed and the solutions of these problems proposed. Because the mold design is the key to solve these problems, integrated program of mold design and manufacture was developed, and the design point and core technology in the mold design were pointed out.(2) Analysis of filling flow:The theoretical basis of SRIM filling flow was elaborated, and the filling process of SRIM melt was simulated by using Moldflow software; through the simulation, cavitation, filling time and other results were obtained; The above results was analyzed and got the product defect information, according to these information, the structure of the mold cavity was optimized.(3) Design and optimize of mold temperature control system:The mold temperature control system was preliminary designed, and the mold heating process was simulated base on ANSYS, the information about the mold temperature distribution was obtained, according to the detection results of the actual mold temperature, the accuracy of the simulation results was verified; Through orthogonal experimental method, the effects of pipe parameters to mold heating efficiency and cavity temperature difference was quantitative researched, and the optimal pipe parameter combination was obtained; According to the conclusion, pipe spatial layout of a concave mold was designed and optimized.(4) Other major problems in mold design:According to the characteristics of SRIM foaming process, The essence of product design has been stated; The calculate method of foam mold and vacuum mold’s working size has been discussed, and then calculated their working size, so as to ensure the mold’s dimensional accuracy and to guarantee the size matching of the epidermis and the concave mold; Finally, foam mold’s other critical structures has been designed and discussed.
