The steering gear is an important part of the aircraft. In order to enhance the safety of the shuttle, improving the reliability of steering gear is crucial. The use of redundant servo system is the development direction of aerospace steering gear. A two-input differential reducer used in the transmission device of an aerospace steering system was introduced in this paper.The transmission device used in special space conditions must have small volume, lightweight, high accuracy, smooth transmission, high transmission efficiency and high reliability. This paper completed the design of the differential reducer through scheme selection, structure design, virtual prototyping and finite element analysis. And on this basis, theoretical analysis was carried out for the accuracy and efficiency of the differential reducer. Finally, the accuracy transmission and the transmission efficiency of the differential reducer were being verified through the test.According to the technical requirements, the specific design and the structure of gear and planetary frame are determined. Choosing the reasonable load sharing method and determining the number of teeth and the modulus of each gear. Selecting appropriate materials for parts.Modeling and virtual assembly of the differential reducer by Pro/E. The strength analysis and the modal analysis of the key parts and the dangerous gears were done by ANSYS.The various factors affecting the transmission were analyzed. The method to improve the transmission accuracy was put forward. Analyzing the factors which influence the transmission efficiency. Based on the calculation formula of efficiency, the efficiency value was calculated.The precision of transmission test bench was introduced, the efficiency test platform was designed. The data obtained by test were compared and analyzed.The material and the heat treatment of gear have great influence on the transmission precision of two-input differential reducer. The hard surface model is better than the soft tooth surface model, it can meet the accuracy and efficiency of the special requirements of space conditions, and can effectively improve the reliability of the actuator.
