| Landscape sketch is an important part of the landscape structure in the designation of modern landscape. It functions not only as the place to rest, entertain and view, and some other utility functions for visitors, but also to beautify environment and decorate scenery, enhance artistic conception, which improves the atmosphere of landscape spaces to meet people’s spiritual needs. Landscape sketch is rich in content, which can be divided into three major parts:the first category refers to architectural sketch including sculptures, murals, pavilions, arches and etc.; the second category belongs to living facilities sketch including seats, telephone booths, mailboxes, mailbox, trash and etc.; and the third category is roads sketch including station cards, street lights, fencing and road signs. People put much emphasis on the utility function of landscape sketch in China. Whereas, the spaces environment and the cultural factors are rarely considered, ignoring the spiritual connotation of sketch, this causes that the majority follows the same pattern of landscape sketch design without characteristics, as well as crude designation and the lack in beauty. According to the analysis of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, human beings’ demand of emotional will be raised to the first level under the circumstances that people’s material needs are met. Therefore, it is not enough that landscape environment only meet the utility function in landscape design. The emotion factor is indispensable. It is these emotional landscape sketches which make space environment become lively and vivid to improve the artistic quality of the whole scene and the landscape image of the urban environment. They bring the enjoyment of beauty and attraction to stay to human beings.With the general trend of modern design development on the basis of diversification and humanization, the spirit of place gradually has been recognized. Building the spirit of place has become an important content which can’t be neglected in landscape design, and also a crucial point which guides the sound development of the landscape construction. Architecture phenomenology mainly focuses on the spirit of place, which implements functions of landscape from the spiritual level. In1979, Norway city architect Norberg Schultz systematically put forward the "spirit of place". He said:"The place is a kind of humanized space, and it reflects the spirit of place in the wake of the recognition of material and spiritual features ". An important part of the spirit of place is " a place of identity and belonging ".Architecture and landscape with the characteristic of the spirit of the place should not only realize the material function, but also continue historical context, inherit culture. On the other hand, it also reflects the beliefs and traditions in spaces, gives people hope and reliance, which results in emotional sense of identity and belonging, and ultimately to meet human beings’ spiritual needs. The proposition of the spirit of the place has a huge impact on the idea of architectural and landscape design in the end of the twentieth Century. Through human beings’ practice, the spirit of the place has developed as a kind of architecture thought of post-modernism and become the core of the phenomenology of architecture research.This thesis put landscape sketch as the research object, and places the spirit of place as the beginning, combining with the landscape sketch design case in Suzhou·69Park Court, cultural and creative industry park. This thesis has combed and summed up on the design of landscape in the construction of the spirit of place.
