With the continuous development of smart grid, intelligent substation as an important part of the smart grid will replace the conventional substation, conventional substation equipment and technology behind the development of the power grid, so it is essential to transform the conventional substation to meet the requirements of future power grid development. In this paper, the intelligent transformation of 110kV Datong conventional substation is studied.Through summarizing the development of domestic and international smart substation, the paper analyzes the feasibility of the low cost intelligent transformation of Datong substation.According to the technical specification of substation intelligent transformation, the overall scheme and the implementation scheme of the 110kV conventional substation intelligent transformation are designed. According to the structure of "three level two", the configuration of the process layer, the spacer layer, the station control equipment is configured, the integrated monitoring system of Datong substation is constructed, and the innovative application functions of one key operation, the state monitoring and maintenance, intelligent alarm and analysis, the source terminal maintenance, fault information analysis and intelligent operation are analyzed.Based on the practice of Datong substation, the intelligent assistant system of substation is studied, and the system configuration mode, which realizes the function of information linkage, SCADA system linkage and access control management, is discussed.The key technology of the intelligent substation is to realize the real-time control of the equipment, improve the operation efficiency, reduce the time of the accident and maintenance, reduce maintenance and repair costs. It is beneficial to the safe, reliable, economical and stable operation of the local power network.
