Travel Behavior Analysis

Travel behavior theory is one of the most important theories in traffic planning, management and control. Strengthen the analysis of the travel behavior, can make an organic combination of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, accordingly carry analyzing and forecasting on traffic demand more effectively, establish policies and measures on traffic constructing, management and control more effectively.Firstly, the author analyzes traveler's universal travel psychologycharacteristic and behavior characteristic from the angle of traveler individualbased on researching the basic theory of psychology and behavior subject, andthinks travel choice behavior is a consumer choice behavior. Then the authoranalyzes the specialities of travel production and the influence factors of travelbehavior from the angle of travel demand and transportation system, and thinkstravel behavior is restricted by social economic and other correlativeenvironments factor, travel participant characteristic factor, travel characteristicfactor, transportation system characteristic factor and choosing traffic mode,travel route's characteristic factor together. At the same time the author researchesthe characteristics of transportation service commodity and transportation system,think transportation service commodity has determinate society public quality.Based on researching about utility theory and decision-making theory, Chapter 4and chapter 5 analyzes the application of random utility theory, preference theory,utility maximum rule in travel behavior analysis, and constitutes decision-makingmechanism of travel choice behavior. In the end the author sets up the rationalmechanism of travel choice behavior process, then aimed at the characteristic andinsufficient of current main behavior model at the same time, puts forward thebasic assumptions to found travel behavior mathematics model, and designs anindividual travel behavior choice model under the assumption of affording abilityrestriction, then offers a solving thinking about this model at the same time.The author researches travel's psychology characteristic and behavior characteristic, travel behavior's influence factors, travel behavior's utilitycharacteristic and decision-making mechanism, and constructs the framework of travel behavior analysis. Because the traffic system is a complicated huge system, with the development of social economy and the progress of science and technology, the individual's travel behavior characteristic will change constantly too, so it need to revise and consummate constantly in practice, to grasp its mechanism and change rules, which can guide the practical work correctly.
