With the expanding development of shallow-waters oilfields, the demand for electricity power on offshore platforms has dramatically increased, with the voltage level raised to 35kV level from the low voltage. However, the 35kV high voltage switchgears specially applicable to offshore platforms are not available nowadays in China. Therefore, a major task challenging us is to speed up the pace of developing the 35kV high-voltage switchgear suitable for offshore platforms so as to satisfy the requirements of shallow-waters oilfield.The key point for the study is to solve the problems of the influence of offshore platform environment upon the high voltage electric equipment, including:1.the influence of atmospheric salt mist and condensed dews on the live electrical equipment spacing;2.the study on creepage distance of insulation materials and anti-fungus in the contaminant environment;3.the research and design of high voltage switchgear configuration and performance;4.the study on corrosion prevention material for high voltage switchgears, and selection of elements for electrical equipment, performance of anti-salt mist,anti-condensed dews , anti-fungus and vibration resistance.The successful study result of high voltage switchgear for offshore application is the pioneer in China, resulting in a lot of savings of foreign currency, and bring out economical and social benefits.
