The modal split model is one of key modal of transit demand. During the four steps of transportation planning, the traffic mode split is a pivotal step. However, the present method of traffic mode split assumes that every traffic zone has the same mode split rate, which has relative great gap with the fact and bring imprecision to traffic demand forecast, because in reality, with different distance between traffic zones, the mode split could not be he same. Therefore, the adjustment of traffic mode split rate between different traffic zones is necessary. There are two steps to constitute the combined modal split / trip distribution model.Firstly, the thesis analyzes citizens travel choice mind, travel distance and travel time consumed. The travel distance curve model is done by using distance diversion curves, which is modeled based on household travel survey data of Bengbu, Changde, Changzhou changzhou, suzhou, panyu, kunshan, puyang, songling and shengze, and main factors that influence passenger traffic structure are analyzed. Nine parameters are used to build the travel curve model.Secondly, the thesis put forwards gross balance model to settle two important problems of the travel curve model. Then, trough the comparison of traffic volume forecast in the a virtual zone by the new model and common one respectively, it is found that the combined modal split/trip distribution model established in this thesis can better embody the advantage of different travel modes on relevant distance segments, moreover, correspond with citizens' travel mind.
