Substation automation system has been widely used in MV/LV substation system in China since last 90's. Now it has been development to HV/UHV substation system. With the gradual improvement of the substation automation technology, it raises the problem of how intelligent electronic devices(IEDs) of all kinds in substation, as well as different systems of the SAS and remote control centers, should be interconnected and interoperable.The conundrum can be solved by embedded technology which has been widely and successfully used in industry control. Embedded system is a kind of special computer system with special functions. Combining with communication and network technology can greatly enhances the intelligence and flexibility between many communication system.Based on embedded technology, a communication platform for CBZ-8000 substation automation system is presented in this dissertation. It takes a powerful microprocessor as the central processing unit. Besides universal communication interface of two serial ports and two fast Ethernet chips, the embedded communication platform provides a PC/104 socket which is one kind of industry-standard bus for practical expansion. Its application software on the tailored RTOS Windows CE.NET is designed in modularization so as to be updated easily. Furthermore, measures for anti-interference and admissible error are fully taken into account during all the course of design. Through this communication platform, the interconnection between low speed serial bus or field-bus and high speed Ethernet and the conversion from serial bus and field-bus protocol to TCP/IP protocol can be realized easily.There are six chapters in this dissertation, which mainly includes: the brief introduction of embedded technology and RTOS windows CE.NET, design of the hardware, the customization of windows CE.NET, design of the software etc. At last, the summarization and the direction on deepening into research is given.
