With the rapid development of computer network technology and communicationtechnology, the communication network of substation automation system also developsand changes continuously. This paper briefly analyses and compares the commoncommunication mode in substation Integrated Automation in our country, such asRS-485/422, CANBUS, LonWorks, Ethernet and so on. This paper points out Ethernet'scomprehensive advantage in openness, reliability, economy, universality and so on, andalso points that it will be the development trend of communication technology insubstation automation system. Enter but analyzed to base on the etherneted theIEC60870-5-103 with the IEC60870-5-104 roughly construction and application. It isdetailed to analyzed abstract model that IEC61850 establishment way of thinking,characteristics and standard system contents, right according to the IEC61850 substationautomation system to proceeds the application studied, and point out the IEC61850system is a substation automation to correspond by communication and the constructiondevelop the direction.
