With the development of computer network technology, especially with the widespread application of the Internet/Intranet technology, the inner and outer environment of the design, manufacture and communication of enterprises and the cooperation means of business between enterprises and suppliers have changed greatly, which provide a new platform for remote-site concurrent machine products design and manufacture. It is feasible and necessary to share and exchange the resource of machine design and manufacture and to realize the resource sharing, combination and optimization via the Internet/Intranet technology.Combined with the applied foundation research project of Sichuan province "Study on the machine design and manufacture resource sharing based on the network technology", the techniques of design and manufacture resource sharing based on Web are studied and the architecture of the design and manufacture resource sharing system based on the Browser/Server is put forward. A cylindrical gear design and drawing system based on the design and manufacture resource sharing is established, the executive scheme of the system is given out and the key techniques of system implementation are discussed. The main achievements and characteristics of this paper are as follows:(1) The principles of design and manufacture resource sharing are analyzed and discussed; two different schemes of design and manufacture resource sharing are discussed in detail. With this understanding, the architecture and operation model of the design and manufacture resource sharing system with three-tier B/S structure are put forward based on Web, the system function is designed and the function modules are divided up.(2) Some key implementation techniques of the design and manufacture resource sharing system are discussed in detail, including the product data sharing techniques, the counteraction mechanism of mission conflict and the programming techniques. About the product data sharing techniques, the integration, access and exchange techniques of product data are discussed in detail. About the programming techniques, the COM technique, the ASP technique, the Web database technique, and some other relevant techniques are discussed in detail. The COM technique is introduced, the classification and characteristics of COM, the characteristics and structure of ASP are discussed in detail; the design, access and concurrent events control of the Web database are studied deeply, the approaches to the design, access and concurrent event control of database are put forward in design and manufacture resource sharing system; other techniques that are closely relevant to the development of the design and manufacture resource sharing system are analyzed and discussed.(3) The implementation techniques of design and manufacture resource sharing based on Web are studied. Combined with the development of the cylindrical gear design and drawing system based on design and manufacture resource sharing, the development and running environment of the system are studied and have been put forward. The program flow and implementing method of the cylindrical gear design and drawing system based on Web are discussed in detail. The COM components for the cylindrical gear's design are developed. And the method of registration and call in Web pages of the components are also discussed. The data exchange mode of the resource sharing is designed, and the design and manufacture resource sharing is realized based on Web.(4) The design and implementing methods of the modules of the gear's 2-dimension draft drawing based on AutoCAD and 3-dimension model creating based on SolidWorks are discussed in detail. And the program codes are written.(5) The design and implementing approaches of database for the cylindrical gear design and drawing system based on the design and manufacture resource sharing are put forward.
