As a kind of construction machinery capable of the transporting and laying of concrete, concrete pump has become an indispensable engineering equipment in modern architecture construction for its ability of continuously accomplishing horizontal and vertical transportation with high delivery efficiency and reduced labor intensity, as well as its suitability for concrete transportation in complex geography of high-level or far-distance. With the popularization of concrete pump in China architectural industry, some new requirements have been put forward for it on its capability, manipulation, and maintenance. Among these, one possible way of heightening the laying efficiency and working dependability of the concrete pump is to realize integrated manipulation and intelligent control by making use of sensor inspection and computer control technologies, and hence enrich the functions of the pump, making it capable of intelligent monitoring, detection, forecasting, maintenance as well as remote failure diagnosis.First of all, with respect to the monitoring and control of trailer pump, analysis has been made on the latest trends and development at home and aboard of intelligent construction machinery. The necessity of intelligent concrete pump is put forward with some practical approaches proposed for its realization. Then, making use of the function requirement modeling method, a structural function requirement model of the trailer pump monitor system is built with respect to the pump's working principles and characteristics.Based on this model, technologies of multiple disciplines including multi-sensor confusion, mechatronic-hydraulic integration,as well as failure forecasting and diagnosis has been employed to develop a trailer pump computer monitor system with some degree of intelligence, in the sense that the pump can possess some intelligent functionalities such as self-diagnosis,real time monitoring and failure detection. This system significantly enhances the performance of the pump and well satisfies the requirements on the reliability of it. At the same time, a display interface of the computer monitoring system was developed on the design principle of the display interface in the human-machine engineering, which made it quite convenient to operate and maintain the equipment. The system's efficiency and intelligence has been proved in practical running.The research has not only improved the design of trailer pump monitor system and make the trailer pump possess some kind of intelligence, but also cast some hints on the development of other intelligent construction machinery in the future, and is therefore helpful for the application of intelligent construction machinery.
