The Rapid Prototyping technology is an advanced technology, has very vast applied foreground. But majorities of local business enterprises have to depend on the foreign Rapid Prototyping equipments that are very expensive,which affects the application of the Rapid Prototyping technology in China.FDM is one important branch of the RP. It refers to mechanics, CNC, macromolecule material and computer software technologies. The Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) device has many advantages, such as high accuracy, no laser, convenient, etc. So it is significant to research and develop the FDM device. The research of FDM device references the research experience of the series of HRP devices. The FDM device is based on single PC and universal control card. It uses the modulated software system, and makes the open bus structure as its whole structure.This article emphasizes on the research and development of FDM HRPR-I device, describes the main structure involves the control processing of the system and software structure. The software structure is made up of device driver, hardware abstract layer (HAL), visual machine (VM) and reading ZIF file.According to the demand of the stability, security and real-time, HRPR-I uses Windows 2000 as the software platform while the FDM device control system was designed. And the control processing of the system was developed. Interrupt system and the external timer are base of the HRPR-I real-time controlling system. It uses the modulated software system, and makes the open bus structure as its whole structure. The HRPR-I software system is modulated, reusable.
