Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is one of the most important Rapid Prototyping Manufacturing Technologies. In this thesis, using 'birth and death' element technology of the ANSYS software simulated the material deposition in the molding. Taking temperature-dependent the thermal conduction and heat capacity into accout, a three-dimension transient thermal and stress finite element modeling has been developed. Latent heat is considered by using enthalpy.Stress and distortion based on different scanning speeds are analyzed using the finite element modeling developed in this thesis. The rationality and feasibility of high-speed scan were validated theoretically. Influence of the temperature and stress distribution by different scanning manner and the ratio of length-width is analyzed. In this work, the numerical simulation results are in accord with theexperimental results in some interrelated reports. This show that the finite element modeling developed in this research work is logical. The numerical model can adequately be used to estimate the distortion in FDM rapid...
