The technology of the appliance accessing network on PC is very mature. With thedevelopment of the Internet technology and the need of the people's lives, someequipment such as Information Appliance (IA) need to use embedded module instead ofPC to access network. But there are two difficulties in putting into practice. First,to run TCP/IP protocol stack requires advanced hardware platform. Most of thetraditional home appliances are based on some low speed and low level microcontrollers. So it is difficult for them to access Internet. Second, the popularization of theIA relies on the low cost by which the embedded Internet could be realized. The thesisanalyzes the technology of the embedded Internet in IA in detail and then researchesand develops a network control module for network air-condition. The module embeddedwith the web server can provide an interface for visiting and controlling which canbe easily operated by remote users. So we solve the problem of the intercommuni-cation for remote users and IA.The main research of the thesis includes the following three parts.First, it discusses the particularity of the realization of the embedded Internetand all kinds of the solutions for it.Second, we put forward a solution for the embedded web server based on a singlechip. It adopts IP2022 as its processor, which needs very few periphery circuits inhardware. So system cost can drop to the lowest. In software, the system realizesa compact TCP/IP protocol stack and implements the control interface by using thevirtual peripheral technology on bottom. The thesis also introduces the dynamic webtechnology, by which the system could make the remote users control the IA and receivethe returned real-time state information. We adopt MD5 algorithm to encrypt the datawhen users logging in, which ensures the users' information safety. As seen from the result of the experiment, compared to the other solutions of thesame kind, the embedded web server could run steadily, and even with smaller size, lower power consumption, lower cost and shorter period of development. At last, we predict the application response time in a scenario created in theOpnet emulator and discuss the network performance in the WAN.The thesis provides some valuable conclusions not only in theory but also inpractice for IA accessed Internet.
