As clean reproducible energy, the development of Medium or Small Hydropower Plants will be specially supported in China. As the important automation equipment of power station, the quality of the governor influences electric energy quality and security economical operation of the hydropower station direct. This paper analyses the current situation and the development of the governor in china at present, proposes the plan of designing the governor of hydraulic turbine based on MSP430 single-chip microcontroller, makes the prototype of the governor of hydraulic turbine based on MSP430, and carries on relevant test according to national norm. The results prove the global performance of the device meet to or better than the norm, with further improving and perfecting, it can popularize and apply in industrial production .This paper describes the main hardware structure of a MSP430-based governor for hydraulic turbine, implementation method of the software, the communication procedure of PC, and provides the test result. There are 5 parts in this paper.Chapter one is part l,in which reviews the development of the governor for hydraulic turbine, carries on the simple contrast to PLC governor and single-chip microcontroller governor, presents the proposal, objective and significance of the project;Chapter two is part 2, in which introduces the ensemble architecture of MSP430 computer governor and hardware circuit structure in detail, and the design principle to every part of hardware circuit has made a detailed analysis;Part three consists of chapter 3, chapter 4 and chapter 5,expounds theoretical foundation of PID control algorithm, derives PID control algorithm of this device, then introduces the application software of MSP430 governor on this basis, analyses frequence measurement interrupt subroutine, A/D conversion subroutine, PWM output subroutine, and introduces implementation methods of developing communication and monitor program with Visual Basic6.0.Chapter six is part 4. This part provides a series of experimental results which utilize the simulating device of the water and electricity, and it shows that the MSP430 governor can be applied to real project.Chapter 7 summarizes all the works in this dissertation. At last, the further research works to be developed are pointer out.
