Many dams have been constructed in China after decades. Because of the limited scientific level in the past, the shortcomings in design, construction and geology survey are existence. With the dam ageing, problems in some dams have arisen. Therefore, it is very urgent and necessary to do the research on stabilization for danger release.In this thesis, considering the Changshaba stone masonry ach dam, finite element method is applied to analyze the causes of cracks of the dam body and asymmetric deformations. Based on it, the reinforcement measures are studied. The computational results of three-dimensional seepage and stress-strain are analyzed and compared before and after the reinforcement. The feasibility of the reinforcement scheme has been proved. The content of this thesis includes the following aspects.(1) Based on the characteristics of hydraulic structure, geotechnical mechanics of plasticity, theories of seepage and temperature analysis are studied.(2) The 3D steady seepage program has been used to analyze the Changshaba stone masonry ach dam before and after the reinforcement. The results show the reinforcement measures can improve seepage around the right abutment.(3) Based on the temperature theory, ANSYS software is adopted to analyze the rule of the variation of the temperature field about the dam body before and after the reinforcement.(4) Trial method is used to back analyze the parameters of right abutment rock mass, the more accurate parameters of mechanics are acquired.(5) By using 3D-FEM, the causes of cracks of the dam body and asymmetric deformations are analyzed. On the basis of these analyses, the reinforcement measures like consolidation grouting, curtain grouting and thickening dam body are put forward.(6) According to the above-mentioned reinforcement scheme, the FEM-model after the reinforcement is established, and then the 3D-FEM Non-linear stress-strain analysis of the model is made. The results of the analysis before and after the reinforcement are compared. The reinforcement scheme has been proved feasible.Finally, this thesis puts forward some directions of the research including stabilization for danger release of all dam types, tracing of dam cracks, simulation of the second stress,thickening mode of dam body and treating the interface between new and old dam body.
