Longtan Hydropower Station is the most critical project during the stepdevelopment of Hongshuihe River, with the problems of project schedule and safety.It's necessary to improve the level of project schedule management. Besides it isdifficult to understand the complex project schedule of hydroelectric engineering bythe traditional Gantt chart and network diagram. How to express project schedulesand to visualize complex space-time relationships are two problems to be solved. Toanalyze project schedule of Longtan Hydropower Station by combing GIS-basedvisualization technique and system simulation technique, a project schedulesimulation system is developed. The system provides a powerful tool for projectschedule management and analysis.The main research and achievements are embodied as following:1. The data structure for project schedule visualization is organized with theplatform of GIS. Methodology and implementation of project schedule visualizationare studied by utilizing GIS special structure for spatial data organization andmanagement function for spatial information. The 3D digital model of projectschedule is set up.2. With the integration of GIS-based visualization technique and systemsimulation technique, systematical analyzing is studied for project schedulesimulation system of Longtan Hydropower Station. Then flow of project schedulesimulation data is designed and the visual simulation analysis to project schedule isrealized.3. Due to the limitation of PERT, the Monte-Carlo simulation is applied toanalyze project schedule of Longtan underground powerhouse system. And theproject completion probability and transformation of critical path are studied.4. The practical developing way for project schedule simulation system ofLongtan Hydropower Station is presented, and the system structure is designed. Theproject schedule simulation system to Longtan Hydropower Station is developed,which provides a powerful analysis tool for Longtan project schedule optimization.
