With the development of economy, the modern highway transportation characterized with high speed, high traffic density, heavy load and channelized traffic, and these also are the trends of modern highway transportation. Higher demands are given forth, such as high speed, safety, comfort, durability and so on. At present, reinforcing asphalt pavement, improving pavement quality, extending life-span and increasing investment benefits become very important. The technology of asphalt pavement have been changed greatly and many methods have been developed to improve the performance of asphalt pavement, such as the SMA, the SuperpaveTM, the technology of modified asphalt, etc.. Among them, the fiber reinforced asphalt pavement is a successful alternative both domestically and overseas. More attentions have been paid to it and it is expectative because of both its eminent performance and simple construction technology, and its economical preponderance.Supported by the Hanyi highway asphalt-overlay project, Hubei, China, and referring to domestically and overseas development trend, through a great deal tests of three fibers, including cellulose, polyester and polyacrylonitrile fibers, and three gradations, this paper comprehensive analyses the fiber types and contents influences on pavement performance and the internal law. Furthermore, combined with theory of composite material and the interfacial chemistry, the reinforced mechanism of the fiber asphalt concrete pavement is expatiated. On the basis of above, the assumption that double or multi-hybrid fiber reinforced asphalt mixture is put forward. Similarly, through a great deal tests of hybrid fiber reinforced asphalt binder and mixture, the internal law and influences are evaluated, and further on, the feasibility also is discussed. Simultaneously, based on the test-pavement construction of fibers-reinforced asphalt mixture, the design method and construction technology put forward in the thesis.Excellent engineering properties and favorable economic social benefits are taken into consideration, and the hybrid fiber reinforced asphalt concrete pavement is worthy to popularize.
