The Research Of Reformation And Renewal In Major Passenger Railway Station In China

After the Opening and Reformation, Chinese national economy has developed rapidly. And as the life line of a country, the development of communication is vital. The railway transportation has for long been the main force of line-haul, yet as the population flow and freight conveyance between territories increase yearly, it reveals exhaustion, which turns the acceleration of railway development into an urgent affair. At the beginning of 2004, the standing committee of the State Department passed the Mid-term and Long-term Railway Programming, sufficiently assured that the railway bears the advantages of great transportation power and low cost, which make it significant in the communication. The authorization and implement of the programming indicates that the new massive railway construction of our country is about to go into operation.The railway construction of our country contains two behalf: the acceleration of normal lines, the express connection between developed areas, and the long-way express. Aim at the new express railways, some passenger rail station started designing and construction, the South Shanghai station for example, which is being checking and accepting. However, the great mass of our railways are still common lines, which makes the acceleration of them crucial to the passenger transportation in a long period. On this subject, many original major passenger rail stations had exhausted, and exposed questions like the lengthy transportation lines, lowly utilized space, unsatisfying station room, and the inconvenience of transferring. Seen from the passenger rail station of the developed countries, the transformation from the "waiting pattern" into the "passing pattern" of the station space, together with the solid transferring framework are worth learning, although the "waiting pattern" could be the main pattern for a period of time, based on our national situation, according to thereserved space of express rail station like South Beijing and South Shanghai. Thus, in the space reformation of major passenger rail station, more attention should be paid to the simplification of' station space, the flexible expanding of station capacity, the rational organization of station streamline, and the link up of solid transferring, to solve the exposed and possible problems of our major passenger rail station.Meanwhile, the progress of our society and the elevation of passenger quality brought forward humanistic view of design;the reflection and realization of this subject in the waiting space, the most important constituent of a passenger station, become a new task, too. As architects, we should think actively, innovate courageously, and search for the station organization pattern which matches out practical national situation, under the precondition of respecting the objective facts.This article analyzed the developmental process of the passenger stations in and outside China, and the current situation of our passenger stations, combined with the example of station reformation, to discuss the major passenger rail station reformation and renewal in our country. It offers new principles and patterns for space organization, which could both satisfy the current needs, and accommodate with the future development.
