The paper introduces some general concepts, functions and application of pavers.The actual function of pavers and requirements for the function of the control systemare analyzed. Through the comprehensive comparison and analysis of presenttechnological situation home and abroad, the overall designing, programming, testingand adjusting, performance test are conducted on control system of pavers. The paperdescribes the overall scheme of intelligent control system which makes the paver torealize constant speed traveling in stable straight direction, smooth steering and gearshifting and other operation requirements. Other performances, such as parametermonitoring, accident alarming, displaying in Chinese and maintenance noticing, arealso designed, some control parameters can be calibrated on the sites.A manual operation control system is designed in case of the automated systemis not in normal conditions. For the programs of traveling control, data monitoringand alarming, parameter calibrating, CAN-BUS communicating and displaying aredescribed in details. The corresponding principle block diagrams and flow charts arealso presented.The performance test of this paver control system shows that the system realizedaccurate speed control with a close-loop. All control functions are feasible, reliableand all expecting targets are achieved, which lay a foundation for industrialization.Now, the project achievement has been adopted in WT multi-function paver andYT asphalt paver of Tianjin Dingsheng Construction Machinery Co. in massproduction.Because of original creation of the project in integration realization, constantspeed control in ultra low-speed, and Chinese display, it has applied national patentright. The application number is: 03130563.6 and the application date is November 7 ,2003. Now the application is in evaluation.
