| In recent years, with the impact of globalization and the purpose of preservingcultural diversity, the study of ethical culture and vernacular culture is getting moreattention. The research and preservation of traditional housing and vernaculararchitecture is becoming a hot topic.This paper discusses the settlement and the architectural character of the Tunpufolk residential housing.Tunpu folk residential housing is located in Anshun region which is in thecentral section of Guizhou province. As Ming Dynasty established, there stillremained rebels of Yuan dynastic in Yunnan. From the need of consolidating frontier,The Ming Emperor Zhu Yuan Zhang manoeuverd an army from the north to scotchthe rebels and settled the northern people in the south. Because of this a large numberof soldiers and people settled in the Anshun region. Under the effect of the nature,immigrant culture and defensive need, a unique culture and settlement grew up inTunpu.This paper is divided into two chapters which respectively discusses socialconfiguration and dimensional configuration of settlement The study of socialconfiguration expounded the form of Tunpu's culture, the religion of residents, feasttradition, folk-customs and community structure. In the second chapter,this paperanalyzes the natural, martial, cultural, religion, folk-custom, economic andtechnological factors, which affect the dimensional configuration of settlement, withemphasis on the effects of defensive need factor.Finally, through the exemples of Yunshan village, Ben village and Jiuxi village,this paper analyzes and summarizes the essential characteristers of the dimensionalconfiguration of settlements. |
