With the development of automobile and micro-processor technology, embedded system has been widely used in automobile electronics. This thesis focuses on the embedded audio system designed for automobile environment. The system is based on the dual-core architecture of OMAP5912, and easily to be extended.OMAP5912 is a highly integrated hardware and software platform, which is designed to meet the needs of next-generation embedded devices. With the advantage of integration of both DSP and RISC technologies, the dual-core architecture is capable of processing heavy data, providing general ability of system operation and really fitting for the development of audio application.The system is designed to realize an entertaminent system for automobile environment, which is based on OMAP5912. There are three subsystems in it, the decoding of MP3, interphone and VoIP. This thesis focuses on the design and realization of the MP3 decode subsystem on OMAP5912.Firstly, this thesis introduces the automobile embedded system, and the backgrand of the project, together with the system architechture of the audio system. Then OMAP5912 processor and the multimedia audio technology are presented. The hardware platform and the software architecture of the dual-core system is analysed in detail, including ARM926EJ-S, TMS320C55x and DSP/BIOS LINK. The thesis also presents the algorithum of audio code and decode in MPEG-1 Layer 3, and the realization of the decode. Next, the software realization of the audio system is given in detail, and RF6 is introduced also. The last part is the conclusion of this thesis and some suggestions for further development.
