Water Environmental Capacity, which reflects the laws of pollutant movement, transformation and storage in the environment and the endurance of the environment against the pollution in specific functional condition, is a very significant basic thoery in Environmental Sciece. Furthermore, it is an important practical issue of Environmental management. With the development of economy and upgrade of people's living, polution of water Environment became a urgent Environmental issue, which attracted more and more concern. To make reasonable use of the Water Environmental Capacity so as to ensure the sustainable utilization of water resource becomes a common view. The regulation of river runoff caused by construction of hydropower project can affect the hydrological regime of the reservoir area and downstream reach in a different degree ,vary the Water Environmental Capacity of reservoir area and downstream reach obviously , and make irreversible long-term impact on industrial and agricultural use of water , ecosystems and socio-economy of river zone.In a case of a daily regulating hydropower station, This dissertation explores the impact on Water Environmental Capacity of river caused by operation of hydropowr stationWater Environmental Capacity of river is defined by hydrological regime(river run off and its spatial and temporal distribution ), flow charateristic and function of water area. With analyzing the research background and significance and summarizing the correlative literature, this dissertationreviews the applied research on Water Environmental Capacity of river abroad and domestic, and summarizes the basic theory of Water Environmental Capacity and computational model of Water Environmental Capacity of river. At the same time, taken Baiguo station as an example, with surveying the Water Environmental condition of research reach and operation scheme of engineering design, collecting a large quantity of hydrological data, the dissertation has researched the water environmental capacity of Tuojiang river in Jintang reach. And the reseach results provide the scientific basis for the engineering management for liangjiang river valley and basic data for the water resources management.
