A Study On The Spatial Form Of Urban Scenery Lakes

At the beginning of the formation of a city, it was accepted that lake had an important effect on the location of town, and was gradually evolved into an urban scenery lake after developing for ages.Urban scenery lakes are significant on building urban spatial pattern and characteristics because of their close relationship. On the other hand, the development of a city also has immediate effects on the form of scenery lake. furthermore, it is more obviously and rapidly with the quick developments of modern city. As general organism, there exists exchanging including matter, energy and information between urban scenery lakes and ecological factors around them with the acceleration of urbanization process, large amounts of man-made scenes overflowed in them and the human disturbance existed universally, so it has become more and more slowly and difficultly. As a result, the connection between scenery lakes and urban water system has been greatly impacted, the ecological environment has worsened rapidly too. Both landforms and spatial pattern all have been destroyed greatly, so that the quality of landscape gets more and more bad, and cities lost their own characteristic and deviated from the object of becoming "landscape city".This paper analyzed spatial form of urban scenery lake through two aspects, and used the cased studies of West-lake in Hangzhou and Xuanwu-lake in Nanjing.Moreover, the development and inner scene planning such as water division, construction of bank and island of urban scenery lakes will also have effects on their spatial form. In the end,the correct attitude and development trend of construction for urban scenery lake are put forward to on the base of summarizing the successful and unsuccessful experience being linked to the development and construction of the two urban scenery lakes.1. Significance, origin and methods of this research are introduced in the first chapter, some important concepts and the reasons why choose this case are also indicated.2. The histories of Lakes being an important part of cities, being the carriers of urban history and culture and being used to build urban spatial integrated characteristic are discussed in the second part.3. The case studies of West-lake in Hangzhou and Xuanwu-Lake in Nanjing of the dynamic relations between the formation of lakes and the evolution of urban space are analyzed in the third chapter.4. Chapter 4 and chapter 5 are the chief parts in this paper. The relation of elements constituting spatial form between West-Lake and Xuanwu-Lake are analyzed by comparing the internal and external water space. Then the characteristics of water spatial form about the two lakes are finally summarized.5. The sixth chapter is summaries and discussion.
