The traditional manner for meter reading of Chinese electric power system is by manual work, which has high cost, low efficiency and easy to make mistakes. Further more, the period of meter reading is so long that the electric power administration couldn't measure how much power is used immediately, so it's hard to analysis the situation of power using. On the other side, there are more and more theft events of electric power appeared in the past years, the electric power administration need to monitor the field to get on-site evidence of electric power theft. In order to solve these problems, the wireless acquisition and monitoring system for energy measurement is put forward.The system is consists of electro-meter, field-unit, GPRS network, control terminal (mobile telephone) and administer center.The system has realized some functions, automatic meter reading under the ABB protocol punctually or optionally, takes photo of the field, receives and sends short messages, and transmits data by Email.This paper improves the system, which is more powerful and can apply in extended area.1) Add the function of meter reading under DL/T645 protocol as well as under ABB protocol.2) Realize data transmission through Socket communication, which conquer the difficulty of storing and managing data in the case of Email.3) Design a man-machine interface to set parameters to make the field-unit work in gear, which is easy and fast.4) Design a new device with a power module and a standby power integrated to make sure the system can work a certain time after power off.5) The new device also has the improved circuit of starting to take photos.This system can not only satisfy the demand of the electric power administration, but can be applied in other areas, such as industry control and remote measurement. It will be proved to have wide application and obvious economic benefits.
