Whether the acquirement of shoot result is timely and accurate becomes more and more important in martial training because shooters can improve their shoot capability by knowing the distance between the target and the real impact point which is timely and accurately told to them or their commanders. The manual measures currently used for impact point detection in our army lack of accuracy, security and are not timely. So a new measurement is badly in need.Sound wave is one production of explosion. It can be easily detected and hardly influenced by sight limitation or other natural conditions. The transmission of sound wave in air has strong predictability and the theories about it are relatively mature. So impact point detecting method based on acoustics becomes preferred. Sound signals can be transferred into digital signals and then processed by digital signal processing technique. Proper math models and software developing tools can be used to process the information obtained form those signals. This method is of precision, stability and expansibility. In this thesis, an acoustics-based measurement for impact point detection is discussed. The architecture of the system applying this measurement is introduced briefly, then a math model is raised and some improvements are made in allusion to the problems that may be encountered in practice. The design and implementation of signal-processing subsystem and calculation-and-evaluation subsystem is introduced in details and at last a few aspects that need improving are indicated.
